Powers of Attorney are the most popular Protection Plan options chosen by GoGo Estate customers. Learn how they can help you.
Our standard Protection Plan gives individuals and couples access to Advanced Directives, Health Care and Financial Powers of Attorney, and HIPAA Releases.
For customers who do not need management of finances, they can simply purchase a Health Care Declaration, which includes an Advanced Directive, Durable Health Care Power of Attorney, and HIPAA Release.
For individuals and couples who need a little extra help managing their finances and other matters, GoGo Estate's Durable General Power of Attorney from provides peace of mind at minimal cost.
GoGo Estate has a couple of different Protection Plans to choose from, and you can purchase multiple of the same plan for different people.
Even though Powers of Attorney are relatively standard documents, it can take regular attorneys more time than necessary to create. That's not the case with GoGo Estate.
An Agent is someone who acts on your behalf under a Power of Attorney. Most customers choose someone able to handle health care and financial needs for this role.
You receive your Protection Plan instantly upon completion of the GoGo Estate self-help questionnaire. All you have to do is print and sign! If you're patient and don't want to waste ink and paper, we'll waste them for you by mailing your documents directly to your door.
An Advanced Directive (also known as a "Health Care Directive" or "Living Will") is a document outlining your end-of-life decisions, and include provisions denoting whether to maintain or withdraw life-sustaining care and treatment. These documents give your family and friends clarity in helping to make health care decisions for you in the event that you are no longer able to make them for yourself.
A Power of Attorney (POA) is a document which allows someone else to act and make decisions on your behalf. Without these documents, your family may have to resort to other legal means (like guardianship) to help you in the event of your incapacity. A Power of Attorney can allow another person to take charge of your health care or financial needs immediately upon signing, or it can become effective upon your incapacity (which is certified by a doctor). GoGo Estate allows you to make this decision.
A "Durable" Power of Attorney simply allows someone else to make decisions on your behalf in the event of your incapacity or death. If the Power of Attorney were not Durable, your Attorney-in-Fact would not have the power to act. Every Power of Attorney on GoGo Estate is Durable.
Many people colloquially refer to the person acting under a Power of Attorney as their "Power of Attorney." We at GoGo Estate know what you mean, but the law may not. The person who technically acts on your behalf under a Power of Attorney is known as your "Agent." An "Agent" is just a fancy way of saying "the person appointed to serve on your behalf under your Power of Attorney."
In order for your Protection Plan documents to be legally binding, you must be over the age of eighteen (18) and of sound mind, you must sign each document in front of two (2) "disinterested witnesses," meaning two people who are not related to you or who will not be implicated in your Protection Plan documents, and you must have each document notarized.
HIPAA stands for the "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act," and is a law which states that highly sensitive medical information cannot be released without your prior authorization. Because your health care Attorney-in-Fact is required to make health care decisions for you, GoGo Estate automatically includes a HIPAA Authorization so that they can carry out those powers.
